Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have 6 times the rate of blindness of other Australians, yet, for indigenous Australianís, 94% of this vision loss is preventable or treatable. The ophthalmology department at the Royal Darwin Hospital provides outreach services for eye health care across the Northern Territory. Dr T Mahendrarajah and Dr N Wijesinghe have been instrumental in actively tackling the prevalent problems associated with Indigenous eye health. This film was developed as an educational video for Indigenous patients about the cataract surgery to destigmatise fears many patients have.
