Session Title: POSTER ABSTRACTS

Session Time:      -

Purpose:
To describe a method for recording HighDefinition video utilising readily available consumercomponents and open source software for A$1000.00or less.

Method:
A Slingbox, router, open source softwareand a Windows or Linux laptop was configured torecord 1080p video from component or compositevideo output from a Leica operating microscope for usein surgical training.

Results:
High resolution video was recorded reliablyand repeatedly using this system. The system can bereadily adapted to incorporate an archive system.

Conclusion:
Modern video acquisition systems allowrecording of high resolution video directly to digitalmedia but many legacy devices exist and commercialvideo recording systems can cost A$10,000.00 ormore. A need exists for affordable video capture fromlegacy devices and this system is affordable, reliableand scalable.
